Job summary

DelDOT is seeking a Communications Systems Specialist I to support the statewide communications infrastructure. You will perform hands-on electronics work, configure, install, repair, and align radios and related equipment, and ensure connectivity across state, county, and municipal agencies.

You will monitor performance, provide customer service and technical support, work with vendors as needed, stay current with industry standards, and travel statewide to installation sites.

Qualifications

• Possession of an Associate degree or higher in electronics, telecommunications, communications systems technology, computer networking, information technology, or related field.
• Possession of a certification in electronics, telecommunications, communications systems, radio systems, or a related technical field.
• One year of experience in performing technical electronics work involving the operation or maintenance of communications systems.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical electronics work to ensure operation and maintenance of statewide communications systems (800 MHz, radio, microwave, etc.).
• Configures, installs, repairs, modifies, and aligns communications systems and related equipment.
• Conducts regular monitoring and testing for performance and reliability.
• Delivers customer service and technical support to users and coordinates with vendors as needed.
• Plans, tests, and installs software/hardware updates and enhancements into existing systems.
