Job summary

State of Indiana in Indianapolis seeks a visionary Statewide Asset Management Director to guide strategic investment planning for Indiana's Interstate Highway System and to support asset inventories and program guidance.

You will lead a team delivering district support, and drive the integration of AI-based asset identification, connected vehicle data, and robust GIS governance.

The role emphasizes resiliency planning, emergency coordination, and staff development to uphold statewide standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Professional Engineer License issued by the State of Indiana.
• Knowledge of information technology systems and applications.
• Broad knowledge of operations and management techniques.
• Ability to work in a lateral direction across organizational boundaries to identify business information needs and implement solutions to fulfill them.
• High level of analytical, planning and organizational skills to project needs, manage projects, and application activities.
• Effective communication, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to formulate sound management and fiscal recommendations and make appropriate decisions with consideration of potential impact on agency, department and district.
• Ability to effectively prioritize a variety of projects/functions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management.
• Ability to work independently and organize thoughts logically.

Responsibilities

• Direct staff in development of engineering specifications, policies, procedures, and standards with statewide impact for the entire engineering program.
• Establishes work priorities.
• Directs development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Develops and administers budgets.
• Evaluates need and coordinates training.
• Provide developmental opportunities, coaches staff, assigns work, evaluates performance, recommends discipline as needed.
• Review and approve goals and objectives proposed by staff.
• Direct the preparation of highly technical engineering reports including program manuals.
