Job summary

City Parks Foundation in New York City seeks a Catalyst Organizer to start, launch, and develop active community park groups at multiple sites. You will map assets, engage neighbors, and guide groups toward independent, sustainable Friends of the park formations.

Travel to Staten Island and other boroughs is required. The role emphasizes outreach, relationship building, programming and leadership coaching, with a typical project horizon of 18–30 months.

Qualifications

• Experience in community organizing or coalition-building.
• Ability to conduct outreach and door-to-door canvassing.
• Experience planning community-led events with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of assigned Catalyst parks, local issues and opportunities.
• Conduct onsite outreach to identify stakeholders for park and community care.
• Coordinate and facilitate public and community group meetings.
• Facilitate communication among partners and stakeholders.
• Support leadership development of local partners as park stewards.
• Track work in a database and assist with reports.
