Job summary

DHSS in Delaware seeks an experienced Security Officer to safeguard visitors, clients, residents, and staff. The role oversees rounds, monitors access points, and responds to incidents while coordinating with authorities as needed.

The position emphasizes de-escalation, documentation, and compliance with state policies. A valid driver's license and security training are required; a 5% shift differential applies for certain hours.

Qualifications

• Six months’ security experience including protecting property.
• Training or coursework in using security equipment and technology.
• Experience or coursework in narrative report writing.

Responsibilities

• Enforces safety and orderliness in accordance with policies.
• Regular rounds of buildings and perimeter to ensure security devices work.
• Observe suspicious behavior and de-escalate threats; request higher assistance when needed.
• Detects, reports, and responds to trespass, theft, or other hazards.
• Assist in detaining trespassers and locating missing residents as needed.
• Operates security equipment and reviews surveillance footage for incidents.
• Conducts drills and inspects emergency equipment to ensure readiness.
• Provide information and directions to staff and visitors.
