The Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) is seeking a Forensic Security Officer I at the Delaware Psychiatric Center’s Jane E. Mitchell (JEM) Building.

You will safeguard 42 male and female DOC clients and about 80 staff, conduct building rounds, monitor access, and respond to potential crisis situations in a 24/7 Level 5 facility. Required: six months of security experience, knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment, and a valid driver's license.

Formación

• Six months of security and safety experience.
• Knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment.
• Valid driver's license required (not suspended, revoked or canceled).

Responsabilidades

• Observes client behavior, de-escalates incidents and monitors visitors.
• Responds to psychiatric emergencies and assists in locating missing clients.
• Maintains control of persons and property per safety policies.
• Monitors safety of state property and staff/visitor locations at access points.
• Answers internal emergency calls and relays information to authorities.
• Uses intercom and CCTV to verify authorized access and grant sector access.
• Responds to hazards, fires or other emergencies.
• Conducts rounds and ensures doors/windows safety devices are operable.
• Inspects clients, visitors, grounds for weapons or contraband; counts clients.
• Provides information to visitors and directions as required.
• May prepare logs, incident and use-of-force reports.
