Job summary

MSU Residential and Hospitality Services is seeking a State Room Restaurant Host at the Kellogg Center to greet and seat guests, take reservations, and assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.

Ideal candidates are customer-focused, dependable team players available for 15–25 hours weekly, including evenings and weekends, with shifts such as 6:30am-10:30am or 3:30pm-10pm.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work at least 15 hours/week, including evenings and weekends.
• Must be able to work MSU graduation weekends, football & basketball home game days, minimum of 2-3 shifts a week, Monday-Saturday, days, evenings, weekends.
• Sample shifts: 6:30am-10:30am or 10am-3pm weekdays, 3:30pm-10pm Tuesday-Saturday.
• Work hours: 15-25 hours per week both weekday & weekends, schedules vary week to week.
• Work at least 2 weekday lunches (10:30 am – 2:30 pm)

Pay $13.73

• Due to the minimum wage increase at MSU, the starting rate for this position is going to $16.00 effective 8/9/2026. Those hired prior to 8/9/2026 will also be brought to the new minimum on this effective date.

Assist with breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner service at The State Room Restaurant inside the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center:

• Greeting, seating, and escorting guest
• Take dining reservations
• Assist customers who require extra attention (children, elderly)
• Cleaning and maintaining the appearance of the restaurant
• Assist wait staff as needed
• Helping reset tables for next customers
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Restock buffet

Required Qualifications

• Must be able to work at least 15 hours/week, including evenings and weekends
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering outstanding guest service.
• Must be able to work MSU graduation weekends, football & basketball home game days, minimum of 2-3 shifts a week, Monday-Saturday, days, evenings, weekends.
• Sample shifts: 6:30am-10:30am or 10am-3pm weekdays, 3:30pm-10pm Tuesday-Saturday.
• Previous restaurant or customer service experience desired. Work hours: 15-25 hours per week both weekday & weekends, schedules vary week to week.
• Work at least 2 weekday lunches (10:30 am – 2:30 pm)

Preferred Qualifications

Previous restaurant or food service experience is desired.
