Pay Range

This range is provided by the Office of the NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $53,764.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform audits in accordance with applicable auditing standards.
2. Analyze audit areas, establish scope and risk, suggest approaches for addressing risk.
3. Evaluate systems and procedures for compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and contracts.
4. Examine internal controls to assess their effectiveness.
5. Assess agency programs and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
6. Utilize computer-assisted auditing tools across platforms.
7. Prepare and document audit working papers, meeting minutes, and methodologies.
8. Document audit results, write reports, and communicate findings.
9. Participate in conferences with auditees and may oversee trainees on routine tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, candidates need a relevant degree and specific experience depending on the trainee level. For example:

• For Trainee 1: Bachelor's or graduate degree in relevant fields.
• For Trainee 2: Degree plus one year of professional accounting or auditing experience.
• For Program Examiner 1: Degree plus two years of experience.
