Job summary

The New York State Comptroller's Office is seeking a State Program Examiner to conduct performance audits of state agencies and authorities, evaluating management effectiveness and program performance.

Candidates may be appointed at the trainee level (SG-14 or SG-16) or full performance level (SG-18) depending on education and experience, with on-the-job training provided. The role includes preparing audit work papers, documenting findings, and assessing efficiency and fund utilization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in accounting or related fields.
• One year of professional accounting and/or auditing experience for Trainee 2+.
• Two years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience for SG-18.
• Strong verbal and written communication and analytical problem-solving abilities.
