Job summary

The Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, DC, seeks a Manager, State Policy, Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Initiative. This hybrid role leads state staff, coordinates with Pew departments, and advances evidence-based policy on opioid use disorder treatment. Core days are in the office with telework options.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and extensive project management experience, plus strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum eight years of applicable professional experience and full life cycle project management.
• Experience supervising staff, evaluating performance, and coaching.
• Experience with reports/research and policy development is highly preferred.
• Strong strategic thinking, judgment, and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Foster an excellent work environment and values-based culture.
• Manage staff leading state legislative and regulatory efforts and deliverables.
• Oversee state engagements and communicate successes to leadership and funders.
• Monitor national/state policy trends and advise on strategy.
• Coach staff in advocacy, policy analysis, and opioid use disorder treatment.
• Oversee budgets, expenses, contracts, and sub-grants supporting state goals.
• Collaborate with legal and government relations on lobbying compliance.
