Job summary

Louisiana Office of State Parks seeks a supervisor for Chemin-a-Haut State Park in Bastrop, LA, to lead staff in daily operations, administration, and maintenance. The role focuses on delivering superior customer service and coordinating park programming and safety.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in the operation, administration, or maintenance of parks, outdoor recreation, or historic sites; OR four years of experience in law enforcement, interpretive services, mobile equipment operation, building construction or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the maintenance and care of site facilities.
• Approves and promotes site programming/events.
• Performs regularly scheduled overall park and playground inspections.
• Manages park facility expenditures.
• Coordinates major park maintenance or construction projects with Resource Development staff.
• Works directly with local law enforcement to control violence and vandalism.
• Works with appropriate personnel in other sections and departments and outside contractors regarding major maintenance and development of buildings, water systems, roadways or other facilities.
• Works with neighborhood and community groups on matters of civic, park, and recreational interest.
• Prepares plans, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates for projects, programs, and equipment.
• Serves as a liaison for the site with outside agencies in matters pertaining to the worksite.
• Prepares and administers the site budget.
• Accountable for the collection and deposit of all revenue generated at the site through day use and overnight fees.
• Prepares weekly fiscal, revenue, and visitation reports.
• Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
• Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments, work techniques, and documentation of that performance with the use of the Departmental CPM
• Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
