Job summary

Office of State Parks at Lake Claiborne State Park in Homer, LA seeks a supervisor to direct day-to-day park operations, staff, and maintenance. The role emphasizes superior customer service, integrity, and innovative, fiscally responsible activity.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in the operation, administration, or maintenance of parks, outdoor recreation, or historic sites; or related conservation work.
• Four years of experience in law enforcement, interpretive services, mobile equipment operation, building construction or maintenance.
• Experience substitution: every 30 semester hours earned substitutes for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the maintenance and care of site facilities.
• Approves and promotes site programming/events.
• Performs regularly scheduled overall park and playground inspections.
• Manages park facility expenditures.
• Coordinates major park maintenance or construction projects with Resource Development staff.
• Works directly with local law enforcement to control violence and vandalism.
• Collaborates with other sections, departments and outside contractors on major facilities work.
• Engages neighborhood and community groups on civic and recreational matters.
• Prepares plans, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates for projects.
• Acts as site liaison with outside agencies on site-related work.
• Prepares and administers the site budget.
• Accounts for revenue from day use and overnight fees and deposits.
• Prepares weekly fiscal, revenue, and visitation reports.
• Schedules work assignments, priorities, and directs subordinate staff.
• Evaluates employee performance using CPM-based documentation.
• Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures training is obtained.
