Job summary

Rehmann’s SALT team helps clients manage and reduce risk while increasing cash flow. The role focuses on state and local income tax, sales/use tax, and related research, with opportunities to lead projects and mentor staff.

We seek a candidate with extensive tax experience, CPA license, strong communication, and a collaborative approach to deliver creative business solutions for diverse clients in Michigan and beyond.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or industry.
• CPA license required; MST a plus.
• Expert knowledge individual, partnership and corporate state and local income tax laws and principles.
• Working knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws and principles.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Desire to develop unique business solutions in a team-based environment.
• Prior experience coaching and training entry level accounting professionals.
• Passion for coaching others to higher levels of performance.
• Enthusiasm for recognizing and rewarding great work by those around you.
• Commitment to continuous learning and development.
• Out-of the box thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit.

• Mentoring associates as they navigate their career paths.
• Participating in activities to grow the firm and generate business with new clients.

Increased cash flow and a healthier bottom line — Rehmann’s state and local tax (SALT) team helps clients achieve both, while effectively managing and reducing risk.

We Impact Our Clients Through

• Review of current operations and exemptions
• Review of current sales tax collection/exemption certificate collection
• Negotiation with state tax authorities to limit assessments
• Penalty waiver applications
• Acquisition target vetting
• Monitoring and navigating legislative changes
