Qualifications

  • Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in public safety or security.
  • Associate degree or higher may substitute for required experience.
  • Possession of a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • CPR and first aid certificates are required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify employee identifications entering the Massachusetts State House.
  • Operate security screening and related technology at access points.
  • Monitor CCTV, duress alarms, and intrusion alarm systems; coordinate with law enforcement as needed.
  • Conduct patrols and staff fixed security posts to protect the State House and visitors.
  • Provide public presence and deter criminal activity; assist visitors as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies per training and policy; report incidents immediately.
  • Enforce State House rules and issue non-criminal citations where appropriate.
