Job summary

State of Missouri seeks a Security Officer for the Missouri House of Representatives at the Missouri State Capitol Building in Jefferson City. The role supports security for Members and staff during sessions and events, ensuring decorum and adherence to House rules.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field or at least two years as a certified peace officer with arrest power, and availability for extended hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or related area.
• Two or more years’ experience as a certified peace officer with arrest power.

Responsibilities

• Summon House Members to their seats in the Chamber upon Speaker's call.
• Provide security to House Members and Chamber Staff during sessions.
• Provide security during committee hearings and special legislative events.
• Maintain decorum and follow rules, protocol and practices as directed by the Speaker.
• Serve as liaison between the public, staff, lobbyists and Members.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the Missouri Capitol Police and Local Authorities.
