Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Staff Auditor to support state government audit engagements. Immediate start with travel to client sites in the DMV area, Monday-Thursday onsite and Friday remote.

The role emphasizes conducting audit testing, reviewing records, and reporting findings with strong attention to documentation and communication. Ideal candidates have 1-3 years of audit experience, with hands-on government audits required and familiarity with GAGAS/Yellow Book preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of audit experience in public accounting, internal audit, or IT audit.
• Hands-on experience with federal and/or state government audits is required.
• Familiarity with GAGAS / Yellow Book standards preferred.
• Strong financial and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and execution of state government audits.
• Review financial records, internal controls, and compliance documentation.
• Perform audit testing and document findings.
• Work directly with the audit management team and client representatives.
• Accurately track and report billable hours.
• Travel to assigned client sites Monday-Thursday.
• Work independently with minimal onboarding.
