Job summary

Job description

SUMMARY:

StartUp Hutch is Reno County’s rallying community for entrepreneurs, creating collisions and fostering collaborations to help new ventures take flight. We inspire, educate, and connect entrepreneurs—supporting them to start, operate, and scale businesses that build a better Reno County for today and future generations.

We seek an organized problem-solver to manage StartUp Hutch’s operations, communications, programming, and financial reporting. This position will support the Executive Director in securing funding and resources for entrepreneurs and business owners as they launch new ventures or transition to a successor. Knowledge of starting a business is preferred but not required.

The ideal candidate is a master at managing projects, enjoys data/reporting, and is confident with written communications (including newsletters, social media, basic press releases and so on).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
  • Provide administrative/operational services for StartUp Hutch and strategic partners.
  • Assist the Executive Director with securing funding for StartUp Hutch clients from lending institutions and funding partners.
  • Participate in the loan closing and due diligence process for the loans we administer.
  • Complete monthly and annual reports for revolving loan funds, including but not limited to NetWork Kansas, USDA, and the Hutchinson Community Foundation.
  • Manage StartUp Hutch bookkeeping and assist the Executive Director with budgeting and finances.
  • Represent StartUp Hutch in the broader community.
  • Assist the Executive Director with the development and execution of entrepreneurship programming/events as assigned (e.g. Network Kansas, “Who Owns the Ice House,” etc.).
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures.
Secondary:
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Administrative experience is required, such as office management, program administration, project management, or financial management.
  • Experience working with small business owners is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Able to organize, multi-task, and manage time wisely
  • Understand financial data and reporting, with strong skills in Excel
  • A high-energy, positive, flexible, self-starting personality
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with people from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds
  • Confident user of social media platforms
  • Strong written communications skills
  • Problem solver, able to understand how parts interrelate in systems and make connections
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, sharing information only as appropriate and authorized by the client
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of entrepreneurial resources and how to navigate common start-up issues
  • Knowledge of PPT and creating presentations
Physical and Mental Qualifications:
  • Physical requirements include excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; the ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; sedentary/indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the StartUp Hutch Board of Directors and approved by HutchCC administration. The employee in this position is eligible for the standard benefit package available to all administrative employees of HutchCC. This is a full-time (12 months) administrative staff, at will, position requiring flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as warranted.
