Job summary

CAVU Golf Club in Naples, FL is seeking a Starter/Ranger-Player Assistant to greet members and guests at the Practice Facility, monitor tee sheets, and ensure timely starts. You will ride the course to assist players, maintain pace of play, and help with course conditions and events.

The role emphasizes guest relations, pace control, and on-course support with daily tasks and tournaments. This is a non-exempt hourly position at the golf operations department.

Responsibilities

• Provide information regarding course conditions, pace of play guidelines and general information about course activities. Arrange players in proper starting order and help players choose appropriate tees for their skill level.
• Patrol golf course to maintain pace of play and keep golf shop or designated assistant informed regarding pace of play issues.
• While riding course to monitor play, ensures all divots and ball marks are repaired. Checks bunkers are raked and debris is removed.
• Maintains clean and orderly appearance of starter's booth, Practice Facility and comfort stations; assist Bev Cart Attendant with F&B requests.
• Supply scorecards, pencils, ball markers and divot tools as needed to all players; explain Laserlink yardage system.
• Fill and replace all empty divot mix bottles at both refill boxes as needed.
• Advise golf shop of any complaints or damage as it occurs.
• Assists with organization and execution of member tournaments and events, resort group outings and other special events as needed.

Position Title: Starter/Ranger-Player Assistant Department: Golf Operations

Reports To: Head Golf Professional FLSA Designation: Non-exempt

POSITION PURPOSE:

Greet members and guests at the Practice Facility. Controls 1st and 10th tees by monitoring group start times on daily tee sheet. Assures groups are at their starting hole 5 minutes before their tee time to ensure on time starts. Monitor 1st and 10th tees as groups turn from one side to the other for correct pace of play. Rides course after all groups have been started to assist all players, slower groups and remind players of special course conditions.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, established by the company from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the property.

• Direct communications with Golf Shop and Cart Barn.
• Arrange and place bags appropriately on golf carts.
• Assist members and guests with any needs or questions; example: ashtray, extra sand bottles, etc.
