Job summary

International Paper is hiring a Starter for a full-time hourly role in Newton, NC. The position offers a starting pay of $21.33 per hour with shifts that may include 8, 10, or 12 hours and some Saturdays. Typical hours run evening to night, with various 2nd shift options.

Responsibilities include counting and stacking finished product, reading orders and gauges, and ensuring quality and safety. You’ll perform basic shop math, handle documentation, and assist with machine cleanup and routine

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift.
• Applicant must pass pre-employment health assessment, drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Count and stack finished product.
• Read factory orders accurately.
• Read gauges and other test equipment.
• Use basic shop math (reading a tape measure).
• Complete quality and administrative documents and follow directions.
• Assist with cleanup: blowing down machine, wiping shafts, cleaning ink systems, vacuuming and sweeping the area.
• Handle physical tasks: bend, stoop, twist, push/pull, and lift up to 25 lbs (not to exceed 50 lbs).

Position Title: Starter

Pay Rate: 21.33/ Hr.

Category/Shift: Hourly / Full-Time

Monday – Friday / Some Saturdays

Could work a 8, 10, or 12 hour shift depending on daily schedule

5:00pm - 1:00am or 5:00pm – 3:00am or 7:00pm – 7:00am

The Job You Will Perform

• Counting and stacking finished product
• Reading factory orders
• Accurately Reading Gauges And Other Test Equipment
• Utilizing basic shop math, including reading a tape measure
• Requires accurately completing quality and administrative documents and following directions
• This person will also be assigned to clean-up functions such as blowing down the machine, wiping off shafts, cleaning ink systems, vacuuming and sweeping the machine area, as well as picking up and shredding scrap.
• Requires bending, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs.) but not to exceed 50 lbs.

• Ability to work daily and Saturday overtime as business conditions require
• Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
