Job summary

Kanawha County Schools is seeking a START Special Education/Resource Teacher to provide instruction, behavioral supports, and case management for students in the START program. The role focuses on students with disabilities needing intensive emotional regulation, behavior support, and school readiness.

Responsibilities

Provide specially designed instruction and IEP services to START students.
Serve as case manager for SPED students within the program.
Co-plan and co-teach with START Kindergarten Teacher to deliver instruction and supports.
Create a structured, nurturing classroom environment for students with emotional/behavioral needs.
Collaborate with staff, related service providers, and mental health partners to support student readiness and growth.
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, reevaluations, and family communications.
Implement classroom management and behavioral supports aligned with documented plans.
