Job summary

Kanawha County Public Schools seeks a Special Education Autism Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is elementary-level, with a 200-day calendar and duties aligned to WV standards and objectives.

Instruction will target students with autism, ensuring they meet learning objectives. Collaboration with general and special education staff is required to support individualized plans and school improvement goals.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels.
• Criminal background check conducted.
• Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement Kanawha County Schools' standards-based curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives.
• Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs.
• Incorporate 21ST Century technology skills.
• Collaborate with special education students and teachers.
• Potentially plan and implement designated co-curricular activities and/or programs.
• Be accountable for individual student achievement.
• Deliver personalized learning for all students.
• Maintain strong working/communication with students, parents and peers.
• Willing to implement other programs designated by principal for school improvement.
• Maintain classroom control.
• Perform supervisory and other duties as assigned by Principal.
