Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a PCB Designer for the Starship program in Hawthorne, CA. You’ll design in-house PCB layouts, partner with Hardware Development Engineers on schematics, and iterate to deliver high-performance boards including radio phased arrays and power converters.

You’ll contribute across design reviews, manage manufacturability with fabrication partners, and work in a fast-paced startup-like environment with cutting-edge electronics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering OR 3+ years of professional PCB layout experience
• Experience with multi-layer PCB design (20+ layers)
• Experience with SI/PI simulations and design reviews
• Proficient in Mentor Xpedition and/or Altium Designer
• Experience with layout of high pin density components and RF/power layouts
• Proficient in creating fabrication outputs (Gerber, IPC-2581) and DFM/DFA

Responsibilities

• Determine layer stack-up and component placement for digital, analog, RF, and power PCB
• Perform multi-layer PCB layout with high-speed routing and controlled impedance
• Conduct SI/PI simulations to mitigate EMI/EMC issues
• Collaborate with hardware/firmware engineers for validation and prototype bring-up
• Produce fabrication deliverables (Gerber, ODB++, IPC-2581, drill files)
• Analyze manufacturability and drive design-for-test improvements
• Coordinate with vendors for library updates and part selection
• Work with mechanical/thermal teams on stack-up planning and thermal vias
• Assist in maintaining 3D models and libraries in CAD tools
• Drive roadmap for AI-assisted PCB design tools
