Job summary

SpaceX, Hawthorne, CA, is seeking a Sr. PCB Designer for the Starship program to design layouts for in-house boards, collaborate with hardware engineers, and iterate on solutions across diverse design mixes from RF to power conversion.

You will create layer stacks, perform high-speed routing, and drive fabrication outputs while working in a fast-paced startup-like environment with top-tier hardware teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional PCB layout experience.
• Experience with PCB layout and routing in high pin density components.
• Experience with ECAD libraries and library configuration management.
• Experience with Mentor Xpedition and/or Altium Designer.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability, assembly, and test.
• Ability to script for automating tasks (Python or Altium scripting).
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine layer stack-up, component placement, routing feasibility, and signal routing of PCB designs.
• Perform multilayer PCB layout (20+ layers) with high-speed routing and power/ground planning.
• Conduct SI/PI simulations to mitigate crosstalk, reflections, and EMI/EMC issues.
• Produce fabrication outputs and collaborate with engineers for validation and bring-up.
• Analyze manufacturability and implement production feedback to improve yield.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to improve design rules and guidelines.
• Develop and verify symbols, footprints, and 3D models; manage library data.
• Support stack-up planning with mechanical/thermal teams and participate in reviews.
