Job summary

SpaceX in Starbase, TX is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for STARSHIP Material Flow to analyze and optimize the receiving, storage, movement, and presentation of materials across flight and non-flight programs.

You will design layouts, develop material management plans, and collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective material flow while meeting ambitious Starship targets. Onsite role, extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 1+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (internship and school projects qualify).
• Experience directly on material flow engineering solutions is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership driving projects in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement material flow strategies to support Starship production goals.
• Develop layouts for material flow and storage to optimize inventory and density.
• Create labor and equipment models; conduct time studies and track improvements.
• Develop cost-effective packaging between vendors and Starbase facilities.
• Utilize data analysis tools to assess material flow performance and drive improvements.
• Lead safety training and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Supply Chain across programs.
