Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Automation & Controls Specialist (Starship) - Level 4/5 to contribute to high‑reliability production environments. You will design, deploy, and manage automation projects, commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, and create electrical drawings for compliant control panels.

You will collaborate with design engineers to define project criteria, develop SOWs, and drive continuous process improvements across manufacturing operations in demanding aerospace

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in automation and controls installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage automation and controls projects; participate in commissioning and training.
• Define and bound project criteria with design engineers.
• Design and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications in a high-reliability environment.
• Create and modify electrical and pneumatic schematics (Eplan, schematics).
• Layout NFPA79/NEC/UL508A-compliant electrical control panels.
• Produce concise written and visual design documents from drawings and requirements.
• Audit manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, safety improvements, and optimizations.
• Develop SOWs, negotiate, and release contractor work to keep pace with production needs.
• Use JIRA to plan and complete weekly tasks.
