Job summary

Robbinsdale Area Schools is seeking an Education Assistant for the Center-Based STARS program at Sandburg Middle School. The position covers seven hours per day, with 6.5 hours of paid time and 30 minutes for lunch, at $24.75 per hour plus benefits.

The STARS program supports students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs in a smaller, structured setting with a high staff-to-student ratio. The role involves collaboration with teachers, social workers, and psychologists to implement

Qualifications

• Two years of college credits or an associate's or higher degree, or passing ParaPro/Paraeducator assessment.
• Experience with students who have cognitive/physical disabilities or behavioral needs preferred.
• Word processing, filing and computer familiarity.
• Patient, calm and understanding demeanor with students.
• Sensitivity to confidentiality.
• Reliable attendance and timeliness.
• Ability to assist students with classroom assignments.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct students with disabilities.
• Provide clerical and organizational support to special education teachers as needed.
• Work with individuals and small groups as directed by mainstream or special education teachers.
• Provide support for students in crisis.
• Willingness to lift, carry and physically assist as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or principal.
