Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming environment where customers feel important and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department; respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
- Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals.
- Prepare beverage selections according to recipes and standards, and to customer requests using proper equipment; tender transactions following company best practices.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about; inform customers of coffee shop specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products they ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend coffee shop items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Use all equipment in the coffee shop, such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens, according to company guidelines; prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Properly use kitchen equipment, espresso machines, blenders, computerized scales, and steamers.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management; adhere to all food safety regulations.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents, safety risks, issues, or illegal activities to store management.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
- Support and assist through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
