Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks a Standby Reliability Power Electrician to perform journey-level electrical work on building standby power systems and automatic/manual transfer switches at Site 200 in Livermore and Site 300 in Tracy, CA. This on-site role requires a DOE Q-level clearance, strong safety discipline, and hands-on maintenance expertise.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required for DOE Q-level clearance.
• High school diploma or equivalent or apprenticeship in electrician trade.
• Basic journey level electrician skills and tool proficiency.
• Knowledge of standby power systems, including generators and transfer switches.
• Ability to perform annual preventive maintenance on transfer switches.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E and NFPA 110 and related safety policies.
• Strong verbal and written communication with technical and administrative staff.
• Basic PC skills and timekeeping.
• Valid California driver's license and willingness to work on-site and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, inspections, operations, installation, repair, replacement, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning on standby power systems and transfer switches.
• Test and troubleshoot systems using electrical test equipment and document readings.
• Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and PPE usage.
• Document preventive maintenance results, inspections, hazards, and code compliance.
• Analyze data and prepare reports for projects, work orders, and PM records.
• Provide timely customer service to clients and team members.
• Complete preventive maintenance requests and work orders; perform other duties as assigned.
