Jenoptik AG's HOMMEL ETAMIC division in Auburn Hills, MI, seeks a Service Technician to deliver hands-on and remote support for high-precision measuring systems. You will join a skilled team responsible for installations, ongoing service, troubleshooting, and customer training to ensure optimal performance.

Travel up to 90% across North America and beyond, reading blueprints and schematics, and applying metrology know-how to maintain excellent customer satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED required; technical diploma preferred.
  • 3–5 years of industrial/manufacturing experience.
  • Customer support experience is a definite advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, calibrate, maintain and repair our measuring systems
  • Train customers in the operation, programming and maintenance of our measuring systems
  • Program and run-off customer specific applications
  • Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Perform periodic maintenance & calibrations at customer sites across North America and internationally
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures; report time and expenses; work to a budget

SUMMARY:

The Service Technician is responsible for providing hands-on and remote technical support to Hommel-Etamiccustomers.

You will be part of an elite team of specialists who are responsible for new installations and ongoing supportto existing installations in the field including troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, training, and programming of Hommel-Etamic high-tech precision measuring systems. As part of the service team you will be selfmotivatedand will demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude when servicing our customer needs to improvecustomer satisfaction, maximize customer retention, and increase profitability.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to:)
  • Install, program, calibrate, maintain and repair our measuring systems
  • Train customers in the operation, programming and maintenance of our measuring systems
  • Program and run-off customer specific applications
  • Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Perform periodic maintenance & calibrations our measuring systems in customer facilities throughout North America and internationally
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures
  • Complete daily time tracking and reporting
  • Complete daily expense tracking and reporting
  • Work to a budget
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to changing work schedules
  • Up to 90% travel
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record provided annually
  • Able to obtain a passport
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerances (GD&T)
  • Accustomed to using mobile tools and applications
  • Strong computer skills in word, excel and outlook
  • Understanding of installing software, hardware and drivers on computer systems
  • Background in the manufacturing industry - metrology experience a definite advantage
  • Strong analytical skills

  • U.S. Citizenship or qualified U.S. worker
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma / GED required. Technical diploma in mechatronics, manufacturing methods, or similar ispreferred, college preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of industrial/manufacturing experience
  • Experience in a customer support role a definite advantage
