Job description

A Japanese manufacturing company focusing on the automotive industry is currently looking for a full‑time, fully onsite Stamping Manufacturing Engineer to join their Berea, KY location.

The candidate must demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of dies, blueprints, and stamping equipment used in a stamping department and tool & die maintenance shop. The candidate must maintain existing tools and equipment to acceptable quality standards, follow all safety practices, possess excellent math skills, and be able to utilize computer programs to assist with troubleshooting. The pay range is between $75,000 and $90,000 with benefits including health, vision, dental, and life insurance, PTO, and a 401(k) plan with 3% matching.

Your Essential Duties
  • Repair machine and equipment defects
  • Identify technologies to improve operational efficiency
  • Determine required equipment, materials, tooling, and manufacturing methods to meet customer demand
  • Develop tooling layouts for stamping dies
  • Troubleshoot stamping dies and presses to determine root cause of failures
  • Work directly with the tooling engineer and quality department to develop new and more efficient dies
  • Develop drawings and other engineering documentation to improve manufacturing processes and product quality
  • Provide technical support for cost‑saving projects
  • Develop standardized work instructions, setup procedures, and supporting documentation
  • Comply with all environmentally safe practices and regulations
  • Read all SDS and possess thorough knowledge of oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or 3 years of relevant experience
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering with an emphasis in die stamping/die design
  • Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
  • Knowledge of stamping machines and dies (progressive, tandem, transfer presses)
  • Use of new technology and ability to improve processes and troubleshoot issues
  • Machine/tool improvements for safety, operator efficiency, part quality
  • Meet schedules for production and launches
  • Improvements to existing equipment and processes
  • Coordinate die improvements and design changes
  • Maintain schedule and budget for new tools
  • Work with other engineers in the group to improve machine/tool reliability and safety
  • Ensure machines produce parts to meet customer demands in cost, quality, and quantity
  • Coordinate die trials and develop countermeasures
  • Assist maintenance in troubleshooting
  • Work with problem‑solving team to meet customer demands
  • Assist in standardizing work methods for technicians
  • Develop visual management for PM activities
  • Improve first‑run capability and reduce downtime
  • Working knowledge of production and quality control procedures used in a manufacturing environment
