Job summary

1X is seeking a Principal Tools Engineer for Simulation in San Carlos, CA. You will shape the next generation of simulation tooling, improving the simulator, workflows, and content pipelines to accelerate robotics development at scale.

You will work across game engine tooling, CI/CD, and technical art workflows, contributing to a world-class simulation platform used by engineers, artists, and researchers. This on-site role offers robust compensation and equity.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience developing game engine tooling, simulation platforms, or large-scale content pipelines.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or related field.
• Strong proficiency in C++, C#, Python, or similar languages.

Responsibilities

• Build the next generation of simulation tooling for robotics development at 1X.
• Improve simulator, developer workflows, and content pipelines for scalable environments.
• Integrate simulators into automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Build internal tools to boost developer productivity and engineering velocity.
• Establish scalable platform architecture and best practices for the simulation ecosystem.
