RTX is seeking a senior mechanical designer to create hardware design layouts and release documentation in a controlled environment. You will mentor junior designers, specify materials and electrical components, and ensure compliance with contract standards.

The role requires 6+ years of relevant experience and the ability to obtain DoD clearance, with some exposure to Siemens NX being preferred.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an AA/AS degree with minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
• Candidates subject to government security investigation and eligibility checks.
• 1+ years experience in 3D modeling using SolidWorks or Siemens.
• Experience with Siemens NX preferred.

What You Will Do

• May perform tasks in a classified closed lab environment.
• Under moderate supervision: Performs advanced technical tasks, selecting and adapting engineering techniques to create precision mechanical/electrical design layouts from verbal instructions, sketches, existing hardware, or engineering models; collaborates closely with mechanical/electrical engineering and technical support personnel.
• Performs the preparation of required records for the release of design data and design documentation into the company data and documentation control systems.
• Assists in the area of mentoring new mechanical designers or engineers in the current procedures for design database and documentation release.
• Assists engineering with proper specifications for materials, finishes, processes, connectors, and electrical components.
• Applies company, industry, and contractual standards during the preparation of hardware design and documentation.
• Completes the preparation of the necessary technical documentation for the release of hardware design data into the company documentation control system.
• Assists engineering in the preparation of data & documentation during the revision of released artifacts in the document control system.
• Maintains an awareness of contractually controlled company design and documentation requirements.
• CAD/data management tools: Demonstrates advanced proficiency; may adapt new tools.
• Problem solving & judgment: Handles complex, unfamiliar, or multi‑step problems.
• Consistently applies experience to diagnose root causes and evaluate several solution paths.

Qualifications

• You Must Have Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
• Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
• Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
• 1+ years experience in 3D modeling using SolidWorks or Siemens

The salary range for this role is 53,100 USD - 100,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
