Job summary

Stripe is seeking a senior engineer for the High Availability and Disaster Recovery team to design and build highly available, resilient systems across data centers and regions. You will work on latency-sensitive, stateful services to ensure uptime and data protection while driving architectural decisions and improving reliability.

The role supports a hybrid work model with remote and in-office options in the United States or Canada.

Qualifications

10+ years in distributed and cloud-native software development at scalable or hyperscale services.
Deep understanding of scalable, resilient, distributed systems and mission-critical architectures.
Experience influencing, planning, scoping, and leading large cross-team projects.
Collaborative mindset with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with leaders and engineers to improve Stripe’s reliability posture.
Design and deploy robust distributed services balancing reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency and cost.
Develop new products and prototypes to improve service resiliency and engineering velocity.
Mentor and grow technical leaders across teams.
Contribute to engineering strategy, tooling, processes and culture.
Uphold high engineering standards and improve codebase and processes.
