Job summary

Stripe is seeking an experienced engineer to join the High Availability and Disaster Recovery team. You will help design and build highly available, latency‑critical distributed systems that endure failures across data centers and regions.

You’ll work with remote engineers across the United States and Canada, shaping the global architecture and improving uptime while balancing reliability, performance, and cost. This role offers hybrid work with a mix of in-office and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in distributed and cloud-native software development
• Deep understanding of scalable, resilient distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
• Experience influencing, planning, scoping, and leading large multi-team projects
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and take ownership
• Proven track record as a technical lead and mentor across engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy robust distributed services with careful tradeoffs between reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency and cost
• Scope and drive initiatives to improve Stripe’s reliability posture across teams
• Contribute to engineering strategy, tooling, processes, and culture
• Mentor and grow the next generation of technical leaders at Stripe
• Develop and refine greenfield solutions for long-term architecture impact
• Collaborate with leaders and engineers to identify opportunities for uptime and data protection improvements
