Job summary

Carbon is hiring a Staff Systems Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA to design and build the next generation of additive manufacturing systems. You will join a small, tight-knit team tackling hard, cross-disciplinary problems from early development through sustaining engineering on fielded systems.

Role requires 5 days/week in the Sunnyvale office and close collaboration with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Optics, Mechanical, and Materials teams to deliver robust product releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 7+ years developing complex, multi-disciplinary systems.
• Strong systems intuition across mechanical, electrical, software, and materials interactions.
• Hands-on experience writing test plans and building test fixtures.
• Able to analyze large datasets and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own systems engineering across the full product lifecycle from concept to release and sustainment.
• Lead requirements development, KPI derivation, system integration, and testing for product releases.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Optics, Mechanical, and Materials teams from requirements through prototyping, integration, test, and release.
• Become expert on system requirements, design, behavior, and failure modes; write and execute test plans; troubleshoot issues.
• Write and maintain documentation enabling others to build on your work.
• Collaborate with Operations, Product Support, and Customer Service to ensure readiness of infrastructure and processes for shipped products.
