Job summary

Carbon is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to define the technical roadmap for our next generation of additive manufacturing hardware. You will architect high-level systems, drive architecture decisions, and mentor a team in a fast-moving, remote-friendly environment.

You will collaborate with Systems, Electrical, Software and Materials Science to de-risk products, ensure manufacturability, and raise engineering standards across global pilot and production builds.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in mechanical or mechatronics product development.
• Ship complex systems from concept to mass production.
• Mentor Senior and Staff engineers across a hardware organization.
• Expertise in thermodynamics, structural dynamics, and precision motion control.
• Experience with Tier 1 JDM/CM partners and global pilot/production builds.

Responsibilities

• Own the high-level mechanical architecture for new 3D printing platforms.
• Define technical roadmap and foundational architectures for future hardware.
• Mentor staff-level engineers and elevate engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Systems, Electrical, Software, and Materials Science teams to de-risk products.
• Lead design reviews and root cause analysis for high-stakes hardware events.
• Identify and resolve architectural gaps to improve long-term product performance.
