Job summary

Google's Pixel System Power team seeks a senior hardware power/performance engineer to drive battery life improvements across mobile SOCs. You will shape architecture, software and firmware to enable longer-lasting devices with better efficiency and user experiences.

Work closely with Android and apps teams, prototype new SOC features, and develop tests and tooling to validate power performance for Pixel devices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of work experience in development, testing and deployment of consumer electronics/embedded systems.
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience in embedded systems, operating systems, and power processing.

Responsibilities

  • Drive power optimizations on mobile phone SOCs.
  • Provide inputs to architecture teams on new SOC features and initiatives to improve power.
  • Analyze and optimize the software across the CPU, GPU, memory subsystem and connectivity.
  • Develop tools and tests for validating and monitoring power consumption.
  • Collaborate with Android and app teams across Google to help them optimize power.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of work experience in development, testing and deployment of consumer electronics/embedded systems.
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience in embedded systems, operating systems, and power processing.
Preferred qualifications:
  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with mobile phone SOCs and subsystems including CPU, memory, GPU, multimedia, modem and wifi.
  • Experience with optimizing software for power and performance improvements.
  • Experience working with embedded processors, Android BSP, kernel, drivers.
  • Knowledge of embedded software system design.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
