Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Senior Staff Engineer to own and lead multi-team engineering projects across product lines. You will architect AI-native systems, build scalable experiences, and mentor engineers to raise standards.

You’ll collaborate with AI, Legal, and GTM teams to ship secure customer-facing solutions across web, desktop, mobile, embedded experiences, and APIs using React, TypeScript, Python, and Postgres.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience post-BS/MS in a product-focused software engineering role, operating at Staff level or above.
Depth in full stack, backend, or agents/AI, with sufficient range outside the primary area.
Experience building scalable, extensible systems supporting multiple product lines.
Track record of shipping intuitive products in fast-growing SaaS.
Strong attention to detail.
Experience with React, TypeScript, CSS, TailwindCSS, Python, or related technologies.
For agents/AI: proficiency in Python and hands-on experience building and shipping agentic systems, including agent harnesses/loops, tool use, memory, and evals.
Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar.
History of influencing and aligning engineers and leaders outside the direct scope.
Strong programming skills and general Computer Science knowledge.
Experience working at early-stage startups is a plus.

Responsibilities

Own and lead engineering projects spanning multiple Product Engineering teams and product lines.
Collaborate with AI, Legal, and GTM teams to build secure customer-facing systems.
Build Harvey across web, desktop, mobile, embedded experiences in Google Docs, MS Word, Outlook, and Slack, and APIs.
Lead high-priority, multi-team projects and define technical bets for upcoming quarters.
Identify business-critical problems, prioritize ruthlessly, and make major tradeoff decisions.
Build AI-platform and AI-native capabilities, including agent harnesses, custom agents and workflows, tool calling, retrieval, memory and context management, personalization and tone, thread experiences, and evals.
Develop retrieval over petabyte-scale document corpora, ingestion systems growing 10x every six months, data collection across 50+ jurisdictions, and government-level security systems.
Ship across the stack using React, TypeScript, Python, and Postgres.
Architect intuitive UX and robust APIs for streaming results, long-running processes, and complex tool-calling workflows.
Mentor senior and staff engineers and raise engineering standards across the organization.
