As a Staff Solutions Architect at Upbound, you'll be a vital part of our go-to-market team, focusing on post-sales implementation of our products and solutions. Drawing from your deep technical knowledge and experience with implementing cloud-native solutions based on Kubernetes, you will significantly impact the technical implementation of Upbound's products and solutions. This includes building rapport with customers to ensure smooth delivery and adoption.
In This Role, You Will
- Partner with the pre-sales team to ensure smooth post-sales implementation.
- Understand customer environments, identify platform needs, and design architecture and solutions.
- Ensure successful adoption of Upbound and Crossplane technology into customer environments.
- Perform technical discovery, scope customer engagements, and contribute to Statements of Work.
- Work directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during deployment.
- Improve deployments by writing code, fixing bugs, and building features within Upbound products and the Crossplane core code base.
- Build and maintain cloud-native reference platforms to accelerate adoption.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to resolve complex scenarios and integration issues.
- Represent Upbound as the technical voice to customers and relay customer needs internally.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor, presenting ongoing solutions as the product suite evolves.
You Are a Good Fit If You Have
- Experience coding that interfaces with the Kubernetes API, such as operators and controllers.
- Managed production Kubernetes deployments or managed workloads on Kubernetes.
- Background in platform engineering or SRE, especially building an IDP.
- Deep understanding of highly scaled, reliable services across major cloud providers.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical and business teams.
- Experience troubleshooting and solving technical issues with customers or open source communities.
- Experience deploying and integrating CNCF projects into production.
- Familiarity with modern operational tools like Terraform, CI/CD, IaC, and GitOps.
- Programming skills in a modern language, ideally Go.
- Ability to work with diverse teams and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Enthusiasm for defining and scaling engineering and customer solutions.
It Is a Plus If
- You have Crossplane experience.
- You contribute to the upstream Kubernetes community.
- You speak at tech conferences, write technical articles, or contribute to open source.
- You have startup experience and understand remote team dynamics.
- You hold current CKA or CKAD certification.
