Job Summary

GEICO TECH is looking for a Staff Software Engineer – Testing Architect to own the technical vision, design, and implementation of this platform and the tools that enable safe deployments at scale.

You will define and build a scalable automation tool platform that serves both new and legacy tech stack applications with AI and self-healing capabilities at the core and integrates with release and delivery tooling so every deployment is gated on reliable quality signals.

We need a highly skilled engineer who can build and design large-scale tools and frameworks for diverse applications and teams. AI expertise and hands‑on experience building scalable test automation platforms are required. Familiarity with safe deployment practices (quality gates, deployment‑aware test results, release evidence) is a must. Kubernetes and Docker experience is required for designing and operating platform services at scale. Solid experience with CI/CD pipeline implementation is must.

Key Responsibilities Platform & Tools Architecture
  • Design and build large‑scale tools and frameworks for test automation that work across new and legacy tech stack applications, supporting multiple languages and deployment models with a unified execution and reporting approach.
  • Build and own scalable tooling for test authoring, execution, orchestration, and reporting at enterprise scale supporting many teams, services, pipelines, and environments.
  • Drive consolidation of fragmented tools and approaches into a single platform; define migration paths and paved roads so teams can onboard quickly.
  • Integrate the platform with release and delivery systems so test results and quality signals flow into release visibility, gates, and audit enabling safe deployments as the default.
AI & Self‑Healing
  • Lead AI‑assisted testing initiatives: test generation from requirements, self‑healing automation, flakiness detection, coverage recommendations, and agent‑based or AI‑driven test authoring.
  • Ensure AI capabilities are embedded in the platform (templates, pipelines, frameworks) rather than siloed reducing fragmentation and keeping one clear path for quality.
  • Evaluate and adopt industry solutions for AI test generation and self‑healing, and align them with the platform’s standards and frameworks.
Safe Deployments
  • Define and implement safe‑deployment patterns: quality gates that consume test results, deployment‑aware test runs (pre/post deploy), and evidence for release decisions, rollback, and compliance.
  • Partner with Release Management and DevOps to ensure the platform feeds into change gates, CI/CD pipelines, and release workflows so every deployment has a known safety bar.
  • Support brownfield and legacy with clear tiers, migration playbooks, and adapters so safe‑deployment coverage improves across new and legacy applications.
Technical Leadership
  • Set technical direction for the Testing Architect domain; produce architecture docs, RFCs, and standards that engineering and QA follow.
  • Mentor and grow engineers and test automation engineers on platform patterns, safe deployments, and AI‑assisted testing.
  • Collaborate with product, QA, and platform teams to align roadmap, priorities, and success metrics.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in test automation, test platforms, or developer tooling at scale.
  • Highly skilled in building and designing large‑scale tools and frameworks for new and legacy tech stack applications with proven experience in unified execution, reporting, and orchestration in a large, diverse environment.
  • Strong experience building scalable test automation platforms and tools (e.g., UI, API, contract, integration, or synthetic testing) that serve many teams and applications.
  • Hands‑on AI/ML experience in testing or quality engineering: test generation from requirements, self‑healing automation, flakiness detection, or AI/agent‑based test authoring with proven impact on coverage, maintenance, or deployment safety.
  • Familiarity with safe deployment practices is required: quality gates, deployment pipelines gated on test results, release evidence, rollback decisions, and integration with release and delivery tooling.
  • Kubernetes and Docker experience is required: designing, building, or operating containerized services and orchestration at scale for platform or test infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in two or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, .NET) with the ability to design paved roads and templates across languages and tech stacks.
  • Experience with CI/CD, pipeline design, and integrating test results into deployment and release workflows.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to drive alignment across engineering, QA, and product in a large organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Staff‑level experience defining platform strategy and architecture for test automation or developer productivity.
  • Experience with release management platforms, PDLC, or compliance/audit tooling (e.g., evidence stores, change gates).
  • Experience with commercial or open‑source test automation, orchestration, or quality‑gate platforms in the context of consolidation or platform strategy.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries where safe deployments and auditability are critical.
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to org‑wide standards, migration programs, or platform adoption initiatives.
Education & Location
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
What We Offer
  • Impact at scale: Your platform and tools will be used across GEICO TECH to enable safe deployments and faster, more confident releases.
  • Modern stack: AI/self‑healing, containerized platform services (Kubernetes/Docker), and integration with release and delivery systems.
  • Growth: Technical leadership in a critical domain; opportunity to shape strategy and mentor engineers.
Annual Salary

$100,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
