Job summary

StubHub is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the architecture of the Core Platform's Streaming & Storage team in the United States. Lead the design and delivery of streaming, messaging, and storage foundations powering P0 workflows across the company.

You will shepherd migrations from Azure to an AWS-native, Kafka-based platform, guide vendor selection and benchmarking, and mentor engineers while ensuring operational excellence and governance across the stack.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with leadership in large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in event streaming and messaging (Kafka-compatible brokers).
• Proven experience operating production infrastructure at scale and cost management.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the streaming platform and NoSQL/storage offerings.
• Lead migration from Azure to an AWS-native, Kafka-compatible platform with vendor selection and benchmarking.
• Design and operate high-throughput infrastructure processing billions of events per day.
• Drive architecture reviews, observability, and incident response for P0 systems.
• Mentor a team of engineers and collaborate with ~100 service teams.
• Ensure governance, data access controls, and compliance across the platform.
