CHAOS Industries is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Sensing Systems in Los Angeles. You’ll be among the first on our electro‑optical team, developing software that works with EO/IR sensors, and ensuring it runs across hardware in the loop to live flight tests.

You will build software for diverse sensors, integrate simulation-to-field workflows, and push capabilities toward autonomous end-to-end testing on real hardware at test sites. Strong fundamentals and curiosity trump specifics.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of professional software engineering, owning a production system end to end.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong Python. You build services and tools other engineers depend on, not just scripts and notebooks.
• Comfort with Linux, Docker, networking and CI. You can get a multi-service system running on hardware you've never touched before.
• Real leverage from AI coding tools, with a considered view on what to delegate to them and what not to do.
• Grounding in the physical world, with hardware, sensors or robotics, or field time with systems that had to work outside the lab.
• Appetite for field work and the ability to be on site when code runs.
• A habit of measuring the experiment and trusting the data.

• Join a small, elite team testing live, changing code, and validating on the next flight.
• Build software that works across sensors and configurations, hitting performance goals.
• Develop harnesses and graphs for end-to-end tests from desk to field and in hardware-in-the-loop.
• Create better simulation and replay capabilities before hardware touch.
• Integrate multi-sensor interfaces and data flows for radar, cameras and other sensors.
• Deploy, monitor, and fix software on edge hardware at test and customer sites.
