Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Modern Governance and Hybrid Guardrails in the US. The role involves leading a consolidated engineering team, shaping security controls, and advancing platform-level policies across Google Cloud.

You will influence strategy, mentor leaders, and deliver scalable, secure solutions for large-scale environments. The team focuses on safe-by-default cloud use, policy enforcement, and automation across multi-organization cloud ecosystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• Experience in applications security, cryptography, network security, or malware analysis.
• Experience with Engineering Tools and Infrastructure.
• Experience with Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate team priorities aligned with organizational goals.
• Define expectations and provide performance feedback and coaching.
• Lead design and deployment of dynamic security controls and policies.
• Act as technical anchor for the Hybrid Guardrails team and mentor engineers.
• Design components to enforce security guardrails based on workload and data sensitivity.
