Job summary

Scribd, Inc. is seeking a seasoned systems engineer to own the Content Library's core Rust services and related Python tooling. You will design, build, and operate high-scale storage, transforms coordination, and low-latency retrieval paths, supporting hundreds of billions of objects in production.

You'll work with senior engineers, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor others while advancing cost-efficient, observable systems across infrastructure and data platforms at Scribd, Inc.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend, distributed, or data-intensive systems.
• Production experience writing Rust and strong proficiency in Python.
• Deep understanding of storage and data fundamentals: S3, Parquet/Arrow, PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency services with metrics, tracing, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Content Library's core Rust services at scale.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production operations and incident response.
• Evolve the Python userland and support engineers with APIs and tooling.
• Lead cross-functional projects with ML, search, product, and data teams.
• Drive performance and cost-efficiency across the stack; tune storage layouts and access patterns.
• Strengthen governance capabilities: data lineage, access controls, deletion propagation.
• Mentor teammates and raise engineering standards through reviews and better tooling.
