Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Automation - Foundations team. You will lead a migration of the data layer from Mongo to a schema-aware Postgres-backed platform, running generations in parallel without breaking customer integrations.

The role emphasizes correctness, high throughput, multi-tenancy, and auditable data processing across a scalable pipeline. You will mentor engineers, drive cross-team solutions, and evolve streaming (Kafka), caching

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading platform migration initiatives with backward compatibility and high availability.
• Strong command of streaming and queuing infrastructure (Kafka or equivalent).
• Extensive experience designing and operating enterprise-scale distributed systems.
• Fluency in relational and document data modeling (Postgres and MongoDB).
• Experience shaping multi-quarter technical roadmaps and delivering them.
• Solid AWS fundamentals; comfortable with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Ability to communicate complex tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Open to applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of the resource data model from Mongo to a schema-aware Postgres-backed solution with parallel generation.
• Drive cross-team solutions that depend on the platform you help build.
• Design for correctness under eventual consistency with idempotent handling.
• Evolution of data ingestion and pipeline architecture for high-throughput processing.
• Advance the Query API to production with schema versioning and per-tenant isolation.
• Build auditable data infrastructure to withstand external audits.
• Diagnose production data shape failures like hot partitions or online rewrites.
• Set architectural direction for streaming, caching, and storage across Foundations.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar through reviews and guidance.
• Champion reliability, observability, and operational hygiene.
