OPENLANE is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to build scalable, cloud-native APIs with .NET Core, Java or Kotlin. You will lead architecture discussions, drive testing strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain high-value core components.

The role emphasizes telemetry, performance tuning, and AI-enabled development within Enterprise Technology Services. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in relevant areas and a strong track record delivering reliable, scalable systems

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building scalable, cloud-native APIs with .NET, preferably Core / Java / Kotlin.
• Experience with front-end React development is a plus.
• Strong telemetry and performance tuning with modern APM tooling.
• Solid understanding of application development and testing methodologies.
• Active use of AI development tools and curiosity about applying AI to real problems.

We’re Looking For

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer with experience in building scalable, cloud-native APIs with .NET, preferably Core / Java / Kotlin. You will be part of an Enterprise Technology Services team responsible for constructing and maintaining high-value core system components. You will be involved in the continuous improvement of core offerings, leading technical discussions on software architecture and testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your experience in application development, front‑end JavaScript frameworks, telemetry, and performance tuning. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in relevant areas.

Must Have’s

• 8+ Years of experience building scalable, cloud-native APIs with .NET, preferably Core / Java / Kotlin.
• University degree or advanced diploma in a software engineering-related discipline, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with front‑end JavaScript frameworks such as React
• Experience with telemetry and performance tuning leveraging modern APM tooling.
• A strong understanding of application development, including development and testing methodologies.
• Actively uses AI development tools (code copilots, AI debuggers, test generators) Curious about applying AI to real customer and business problems Able to critically evaluate AI outputs instead of blindly accepting them

Nice to Have’s

• Experience with modern APM tooling.
• Experience with Kubernetes and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with Svelte front‑end frameworks.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Compensation

Compensation Range of Annual Salary: $135,000.00 - $190,000.00 USD (Depending on experience, skill set, qualifications, and other relevant factors.)
