We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Platform team to own the streaming platform direction and related auth, developer experience, QA, and AI-native engineering.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional engineering experience
• Architected event streaming systems (Kafka/Redpanda)
• Delivered real-time data to clients at scale (WebSockets, gRPC)
• Drove technical direction across teams with RFCs
• Built/maintained shared libraries used by multiple teams
• Mentored senior engineers and shaped adjacent areas like identity/tooling/testing
• Depth in at least one adjacent area (identity, tooling, CI, testing)
• Kubernetes expertise with Helm charts and security practices

Responsabilités

• Own the architecture of the event streaming platform end to end (Redpanda, UTS, client libraries, user-facing streaming)
• Lead shift from batch to event-driven systems across Alpaca's platforms
• Design scalable user-facing streaming with fan-out, backpressure, and delivery guarantees
• Set standards for event-driven design and shared libraries
• Shape AuthN/AuthZ direction and real-time subscriptions
• Collaborate on AI-native developer tooling and schemas for event streams
• Partner on chaos testing, game days, and pre-production gates with SRE/QA
• Lead through influence, mentoring, and architectural reviews
• Join the Platform on-call rotation and lead incidents affecting shared infrastructure
