Job summary

Our client is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Python/AI) to help drive the development of next-generation AI‑powered learning products. This is a highly technical, hands‑on role focused on agentic AI systems, LLM integration, and scalable platform development. The ideal candidate will have experience building production AI applications and a strong background in backend engineering, distributed systems, and modern cloud technologies.

Job Title: Staff Software Engineer (AI / LLM Platform)

Salary: $160,000 – $190,000 Base + 15% Bonus

Location: Hoboken, NJ (Hybrid | 3 Days Per Week Onsite)

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on scalable application development and system design.
• Hands‑on experience building and deploying AI/LLM‑powered applications in production environments.
• Experience developing agentic AI systems using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar.
• Strong experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Advanced Python development experience building AI workflows and backend services.
• Strong experience with Java and modern distributed application development.
• Hands‑on experience with React and modern front‑end development.
• Strong SQL and data modeling experience.
• Experience designing scalable APIs, distributed systems, and high‑performance web applications.
• Cloud experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience leading technical design efforts and influencing the direction of complex software platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or similar technologies.
• Experience deploying cloud‑native AI applications at scale.
• AWS and/or Azure certifications.
• Experience in EdTech or learning technology environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
