Job summary

Patreon is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend Platform, to design and lead scalable backend systems. You will drive architecture for distributed services and APIs, modernize backend infrastructure, and enforce reliability and performance standards.

This role partners with product engineering to align platform capabilities with business needs and mentors engineers across levels. The position supports a hybrid work model based in San Francisco or New York, requiring in-office presence

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing large-scale backend systems.
• Strong background in distributed systems and platform architecture.
• Proven tuning of high-throughput, low-latency APIs.
• Experience with cloud-native stacks (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Ability to mentor and lead engineers across levels.
