Job summary

Partly is hiring Staff and Senior Staff Engineers to lead technically on the Interpreter platform. You’ll own mission-critical systems end to end, design and implement across services, and spend time mentoring other engineers to raise the bar.

The role offers a high-leverage opportunity in a fast-growing, globally distributed company backed by a $50m Series B. You’ll shape architecture that scales to millions of parts and across languages, with a strong emphasis on performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating complex production systems with influence beyond code you wrote.
• Own systems across team boundaries and be accountable for something important.
• Strong fundamentals: data structures, concurrency, distributed systems, architecture, API design, testing.
• Excellent data modelling sense (relational and NoSQL).
• Experience building reliable, fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale.
• Excellent written communication; the design doc is the work.
• You make engineers around you better, deliberately.

Responsibilities

• Own mission-critical systems end to end: design, build, operate. SaaS platform and public API sit at the core of real transactions.
• Set technical direction across services and teams; define reliability and performance trade-offs.
• Direct the work: break down problems, review designs, and maintain bar on what ships; leadership without management.
• Solve problems at scale: millions of parts, configurations, markets, and languages.
• Build the Interpreter platform and run a frontier model for thousands of businesses.
• Work across the stack: backend, data, and product surfaces where issues arise.
• Raise the engineering bar through reviews, mentoring, and pragmatic standards.
• Develop domain expertise in a vast, under-modelled market.
