Remitly, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical direction for Remitly Business, guiding backend Go services and frontend React/TypeScript decisions.

You will own multi‑quarter initiatives, design scalable money‑movement workflows on Temporal, and mentor engineers in a hybrid Seattle setup. The role requires 7+ years of engineering leadership, strong Go expertise, frontend fluency, and experience with AI coding agents and AWS.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience building backend services in cross‑functional teams.
• Track record of leading large initiatives spanning multiple engineers or teams.
• Advanced backend expertise in Go or deep experience in a similar language; frontend fluency with React/TypeScript.
• Fluency with AI coding agents and setting team‑level standards for their use.
• Experience designing secure, scalable services on AWS and leading design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Own large, multi‑quarter initiatives from planning to launch.
• Design money‑movement workflows on Temporal for scalable services.
• Drive architecture decisions across service boundaries, API contracts, data models, and frontend implications.
• Lead design reviews to avoid complexity and align with long‑term architecture goals.
• Mentor senior and mid‑level engineers and help grow the team’s knowledge.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to shape roadmaps and communicate trade‑offs.
